I can't believe no-one else has replied yet! Especially since there is a Queen fan club on h2g2, which I'm not a member of.
Queen are cool, Bohemian Raphsody is one of the best songs ever.

Possibly it's too big a subject.
I once thought about doing an article on them but it is just too daunting. I'd hate myself for leaving anything out and it would be too big an article to be realistic. I might conribute to this though - a bit busy with w*rk though

Well, this is why I suggested it to the Italics at the Winter Meet on Saturday (not that I'm trying to take the credit here! ) - I wasn't expecting to see it quite so quickly! But yes, because it's such a big subject, it does need to be covered as a collaborative entry (other bands like The Rolling Stones and The Who are due the same treatment, or so I'm led to believe).

I've considered writing a Queen Entry before but, as Orcus says, it's a huge subject...
Are you planning to compile the Entry from the threads, Reddyfreddy? As the one who suggested it, you probably deserve first refusal!

The italics will pull it all together into one entry, I hope! My main contribution (so far) is on seeing them live.

Collaborative Entries aren't generally compiled by the Italics any more, as there aren't many of them around! The recent Front Page collaboratives, such as the Sherlock Holmes one (or two, as it turned out), were compiled by volunteers.
There's probably scope for several Entries here:
Queen - the Band
- possibly with albums and live performances included, or as separate Entries
plus:
Freddie Mercury
Brian May
John Deacon
to go with the Roger Taylor Entry that Orcus has already pointed out.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't get a decent sized entry based around any particular album you might want to choose on it's own...

Check out the front page of the h2g2 Queen Fan Club - we've been trying to get everyone together for a loooong time
This should be enough to really get them going, though. Thanks RF!

Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' has it's own entry. It's referenced on my page.

Hmmm...I'm not so sure. Unless there is a specific history or reason for an album, then it's difficult to write an entry about an album by *any* band who, no matter how good they are or what you think of them, have just released their latest set of songs. I think it would be good to do an entry on one Queen album (although, that said, Made In Heaven already has an entry ( A778241 )) - it's just a question of deciding which is the seminal Queen album, or marked a turning point in their career, or had deep meaning for the group.
Any thoughts? Which album do you think deserves an entry, and why?

I'd say just do the song Bohemian Raphsody. It is the best selling number 1 ever in the UK, isn't it? Or it got voted the best #1 on BBC radio. It does deserve special treatment tho.

*EVERYONE* says Bohemian Rhapsody, though... Personally, I think Queen have done better stuff. Yeah, it's a great song, but people worship it too much without looking at the fact that they actually did some other really great stuff, too.

Bohemian Rhapsody rocks... but part of the reason it isn't the best is that everyone knows it, and most people are sick of it. But I don't know that people's favourites are necessarily the greatest songs. I /adore/ Dreamer's Ball, '39, Seaside Rendezvous... none of which are particularly good songs, and all of which are nothing compared to Bohemian Rhapsody, but they're more likeable.
I'm rambling. Sorry.

Just in case you all start thinking that I only know one Queen song, I also like 'We will Rock You' and 'Another One Bites the Dust', for their power, and 'I like to Ride My Bike', cos I do. That one, might be called 'Don't Stop Me Now', is also good, not sure of name cos I've only heard it played. 'We Are the Champions' is a nice one to sing when you are, but I don't think I really like the sentiments.

>> That one, might be called 'Don't Stop Me Now', << ...*is* called Don't Stop Me Now. However,
>> 'I like to Ride My Bike' << is more properly known as Bicycle Race. Both will be found on the album, Jazz.
