I truly enjoyed this piece - very informative and tightly written. I had always wondered exactly what the difference between Jehovah's witnesses and the rest of Christianity was - othe than turning up on my doorstep - I didn't realise it was essentially about linguistics. That being said, a fair few wars have been fought over linguistic differences I suppose. I think Islam and Hebrew probably have the same route and I suspect their name of God comes from the same linguistic source and we're still fighting that one.

May I recommend to you, if you haven't already read it, 'East of Eden' by John Steinbeck - it's a fantastic novel but part of the plot is the analysis of God's words to Cain in the original Hebrew - I think you would very much enjoy it.

"I had always wondered exactly what the difference between Jehovah's Witnesses and the rest of Christianity was - other than turning up on my doorstep."

So why, when they turned up on your doorstep, didn't you ask them?
