The grand-daddy of them all... in Shrewsbury
Hoovooloo Started conversation Apr 2, 2008
I used to live walking distance from one of the most important buildings in Britain - the world even - Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury. It's not much to look at, and it's not even particularly tall - but it's the world's first ever iron framed building.
It is the technological precursor to all of the buildings mentioned in this entry - and it's entirely British.
Sadly, it's also rather typically British in that it's currently derelict so you can't go and have a look round it. This could change soon, however.
