Why I Am Not Techie!
'Come, sit down and do this work.
It's just a computer - Do not shirk.
Don't stand back there, you cannot see!
Come over here and sit by me.'
My boss is impatient. He tries to explain,
But my fear of computers is very plain.
'Behave lil! It will help you do wages,
You won't need to keep turning all of those pages.'
I learn like a parrot, A, B, C...
No! Don't touch that, it's not the key!
Escape! Escape! Escape! Panic sets in,
As a colleague watches with an evil grin.
A week before she was meant to show,
Just how the payroll system would go.
It seems she was jealous to share her abode
And wouldn't give me a chance to see things download!
The screen flashed as windows flew by.
Her fingers skimmed across keys quicker than the eye.
Now I might be slow and insecure,
But there is one thing I do know for sure.
When I learn something, I learn it well.
That colleague? She soon went to hell!
For all her work see, it was wrong.
For me to find out, it did not take long.
For I had been taught the old-fashioned way,
With ledgers, cashbooks and books of the day.
When I was in school the most modern thing
Was an electric typewriter which went with a ZING!
