Dinosaurs
Once up a long, long time ago,
They roamed the earth.
Herbivores, meat-eaters.
They each tried, for all their worth,
To withstand the coming dangers
From the planet and the stars.
But sadly they succumbed at last
To an earthquake and a blast.
But each cloud has silver lining.
And a vast cosmic spring clean
Cleared a path for you and me,
If you know what I mean.
Without it mammals couldn't live,
Evolve and take the world.
And move us on to satellites our
Flag there to unfurl.
So dear dinosaurs, we're sorry
That we had to take your place.
But extinction is our business
In the good old human race.
