In talking about California, you forgot about Fishbone, probably the single most important ska band in the US. Granted, their style has changed of late, but there early work was outstanding. Particularily since they weren't the cookie cutter bands we have been hearing of late. They managed to retain their own sound while have a base of influence. And they are the best band I've ever seen live.

The California Ska section was taken nearly verbatim from a forum post I made on the subject to the original article, and in fact is my only contribution. Since that bit was incorporated, though, From Distant Shores and I have pooled our resources to work on a collaborative article that will be more complete. I can't possibly mention every single new ska band, but if Fishbone finds some room in there, they'll certainly get a mention. At the very least, I'll hunt down a link for them.

Please do not mistake my reply as a rebuke of your article. I just felt it was a fine opportunity for me to add my two-pence. A chance for me to gush, if you will, over one of my favorite bands ever, no matter the genre. Someone mentions ska, I gotta say Fishbone; especially when it is about America's take on ska.

Well, if you really want to add your two pence, From Distant Shores and I have been collaborating over a better version of this article since this one got edited. You can find its location in the forum to your left entitled "Out of Date Entry."
Don't feel like I was stinging from your rebuke... the fact is that I am capable of better, and that is exactly what Shores and I are doing with the new article.

i'm not trying to step on any toes either but i feel that the link between ska and punk rock should be mentioned. many punk bands today write ska songs or songs that are heavily influenced by that particular sound.

Well then you should write a Punk/Ska No Looza's Article.
