Why are assembly members refered to as MLAs, Member and assembly are obviously the M and A, but what does the L stand for?

The L stands for Legislative. They couldn't use MA or AM for obvious reasons and unlike the Welsh who are MWA I believe, NI is a politcally incorrect form of language for certain MLA's so a compromise was meet. smiley - smiley
