Excellent, I love really basic home cooking. It is wonderfull as you can then experiment yourself and try to improve/ruin a great dish. I have notice a trend in flashier restaurants (I work with their sommeliers) where they sell you good earthy food as Haute Cuisine recently.
This sounds like a great base.

It is a good base. My aunt taught me how to make it and she basically showed me how to do it in 3 minutes or so. It adds that little something to your rice.
