A Conversation for Porridge
Munchkin Started conversation Jun 20, 2000
We came to the conclusion that Scots eating oats was part of a bet. This "Bet of the Ancients" went somewhat along the lines of "You think you are so hard, but I'll bet you can't eat this stuff." Hence porridge, oat cakes and even Oatmeal stout.
Also, there is a quote from somewhere, which goes something like this;
"In England they feed oats to horses, and in Scotland to the people.
You'll never find better horses than in England or people than in Scotland"
