A Conversation for Lava Lamps

You forgot to say how pwetty they are but also how annoying they are when you have to wait 4 hours for it even to look vaguely as if it's going to bubble because you haven't used it for 6 months and so now all it does is make small green and turquiose wormy things which are just plain scary so you have to turn it off again and put a fibre optic lamp on instead thus lengthening the time it'll take to heat up next time therefore starting the perpetual cycle of non-use of lava lamp . . . and breath . . . not that I'm complaining of course because when I have a spare five hours I love to switch it on and watch the pretty globs move around
Btw, this is one of my first messages so feel honoured . . . or don't depending on your perspective

I feel honoured. Uhm.. but mine only takes about 20 minutes to become a mass of mobile globby delight, even after over a year of inactivity.

I think mine may be sulking, my mates got a prettier one with sparkles and stuff in it too and it overheard me saying I wanted one instead. Now whenever I turn it on it takes hours to heat up and only manages wormy things before reaching 900 degrees and attempting to explode. I feel I may be doing something wrong

I've heard that you should change the wax once in a while. How old is your lamp? I think it's time to use the old saying "Consult your dealer"

Its only about a year old, and it's Mathmos so it should last for ages, I think technical appliances just hate me. My grans had hers since the first time round and whilst its now and interesting shade of brown it still works
