The technique you describe (or at least the bit for putting the gloves on) is exactly the technique used by by doctors using sterile gloves. I got taught it when I was learning how to stitch wounds.

We learned something similar in first aid, but since they're disposable latex, you take them off slightly differently - you use the turned out one to take off the second one.

I now have a box of disposable latex gloves specifically for chilli prepareation . The chilli / contact lens combination is to be avioded . As it is both expensive [ you will have to throw away the lenses ] and painfull . Just dont go there .

May I just add a useful tip here? One of the very best ways to swat flies is with a rubber glove! For some reason the flies don't see it coming. A friend heard this from her daughter and when I was in the Algarve last October with her, she demonstrated how wel it works.
