Hiram Abif (aka Chuang Tzu's Pancreas)

This term can be perfectly translated into chinese, which is where it originates, as 'Chi' sometimes spelled 'Qi'. The two words actually are written using the same character, but the japanese use their own way of pronouncing it.....For other languages is it a bit sticky though, as it means both 'air' or 'breath' and 'energy' or 'life-force', illustrating the belief that these things are inseperable......

I might also mention that "kiai" actually means "Energy focus" and at advanced levels(beyond mine) the shout is no longer necessary.

In sanskrit, the word prana has got almost the same meaning as ki, chi, and qi.
