1883 Born (St Petersburg) to a prince, but named after a serf, since he was illegitimate.
Since you say he died in 1887 and all the other dates seem to tie in did you mean born 1833? ( I don't know the date so don't quote me)

Ok... I did reply... but h2g2 put it in the wrong forum.
I did mean that... but I was typing from my handwritten notes, and hence I must have copied it wrong.
