Me too. The Iron is the nickname of the mighty Scunthorpe United, so I always choose the iron when I play.
Trouble is, I always lose (rather like the mighty Scunthorpe United really)

it should have like a bonus power that it can flatten the land it's on... which would have the cool effect of being able to squash other players houses and hotels

There's a simple reason nobody wants the iron. If you're going to be in a swanky hotel on Mayfair, you won't need an iron - all the rooms will have trouser presses.
Also, on the Whitechapel end of the board, it's worth remembering what "iron" is Cockney rhyming slang for.
