I'm personally a great fan of ICQ. In my opinion, there is no better way to discuss philosophy than via ICQ.

Hmmm. I wonder if anyone else out there has discovered that there's a limit to how much you can type in an ICQ chat window? Suddenly you just come across an invisible barrier, and have to delete something before you can continue chatting...

*grin* You won't see it unless you're typing pretty much solidly for two or three hours, though...

In the old days there (pre Icq98 I think) there was a limit of 250 or 260 characters per message, that was removed and swapped with a 450 limit I think in Icq98, in 99 and 2000 (haven't tried 2000 yet, so I'm not 100% about that versions features) I think you can send as long as you like _if_ the recipient is online so he can confirm that he has a ICQ that is up to date... the server still doesn't accept more than 450 as far as I can recall.

Nah, I don't mean the instant messages - the chat window on 'split layout' mode, where you each get your own window to type in, is what I was referring to.

Y'don't seriously think it takes me three hours to type 450 characters? *grin*

It's probably more along the lines of 65536 characters, I'd imagine. Fifteen thousand words? Hmmm... maybe.

*shrug*
