Not likely IMO. Like Chinese writings, ancient Hebrew is readable by moderns with little difficulty, although it has undergone many orthgraphic changes.

Yes, Ancient Hebrew was written in the Phoenician alphabet, which is well understood. There's even an explanation of it here on h2g2 at A2451890.
