Zwiebelrostbraten

The Zwiebelrostbraten is the most highly regarded Swabian meal made of pork or beef. It's made in the oven and only a few cooks can make a real good "Zwiebelroschdbroda" as the Swabians call it. You put some rosted onions (Zwiebeln) on it, make a real good steak sauce, which has to be very dark and tasty. Swabians always have to have a whole lot of sauce on almost every meat they eat. It's part of the eating culture there. And, of course, the "Spätzle" cannot be missing on the table. Spätzle are kind of like noodles. I really don't know what they're made of exactly. Some dough as far as I know. The Zwiebelrostbraten with Spätzle and sauce are every real Swabian's favorite meal.
Swabians regard their eating culture as the best in Germany, maybe in the whole world.
I know that because I am myself a Swabian and the "Zwiebelroschdbroda mit Schbätzle on Soß" is my favorite food.

The Spätzle (swabian dumplings) are very easily made: dough, eggs, salt, nutmeg (Muskatnuß), milk (if you want). Stir everything together, then use a knife or a dedicated device called Spätzlehobel (dumpling planer) and let the Spätzle fall into boiling water. As soon as they drift to the surface they are ready - easy thing!
