I'll be a physics student as of next year, so this will come in very handy! Thanks.

I just came out of (2nd year) lab, and have come to the conclusion that the original auther of this entry travelled through time to observe my session. "What about causality" I hear you cry! but surely you're forgetting that in the undergrad lab the current speed of light is officially 4.938x10^23 m/s...
sigh...

I quite convincingly proved in first year that g is not in fact 9.81, but 7.6m/s².
But I'd only done first year when I wrote this...

Exactly. The other week I showed it was 9.7. This might sound not so bad, but it was using the proper numbers, and no-one could figure out what I did wrong... It's worse when you use your actual own data...

I just want to know, where did they get the idea that its 9.81 from?
Its not like its a reproduceable result...

I seem to recall that in this particular area of Birmingham, it seemed to be about 8.3...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
