A Conversation for Rolf Harris - Entertainer

Rolf Harris

Rolf was at the 2000 Womad Festival. He did all his well-known stuff plus a bang uptodate rap song about a weather girl. It's hard to underestimate the influence he had on us as kids; I suddenly remembered that it was him who taught me how to snorkel-dive, when he did a TV programme about swimming.

I was discussing with my Aussie relatives who would make a good president, as they are all terrified that it would end up being some has-been politician. I suggested Rolf Harris, but of course he's not that well-known over there, having lived here for years.

Writing this in 2001, it's surely high-time Rolf's talents and influence were recognised with a knighthood or other honour.

Great to see that somebody else takes Rolf seriously as an entertainer.
Remember when we were young and Saturday early evening Rolf would have his own show? Music, comedy, painting - it was a real family variety show with something for everyone.

It's an old fashioned format, but I really think that something like that could be brought back with Rolf at the helm. At least he ought to get to do something along the lines of 'An audience with..' because although it might sound ghoulish, the man is now in his seventies and we might not have the opportunity to enjoy his talents for very much longer.

I really regret that my kids have missed out on 'Jake the Peg' and 'Tie me Kangaroo Down' and I have largly missed out on the excellent traditional and folk music he performed in the '60's.

There aren't that many people who genuinely do appeal to all ages and who, despite being a celebrity presenter have managed to hold on to their integrity AND their sense of humour.

More Rolf please!

Yes!! More Rolf. Even my children like him. I love Rolf, not only because he was born in Wales, but because he is the only man that I have ever seen that would cry at the death of Joe Blogg's canary. Not many men shed tears in front of camera (unless they are paid daft amounts.) Any man that can cry for something that never really had anything to do with him is worth my vote

Besides being Welsh, Rolf is an humanitarian. If only everything in life could be so simple!

What a marvellously entertaining guy he is. But one thing seems to have been missed...
His association with that strange little instrument - the stylophone!
(I fondly remember seeing a the 'Lost T-shirts of Atlantis' performing a stylophone solo at one of their gigs. Tremendous!)

We want more Rolfy!
