A Conversation for Frankie Goes To Hollywood - the Band

Both two tribes and Relax were re-released in the early 90's after getting some more remixes (I could tell you when but I'd have to check my copy of the CDSingle)

Thanks for reminding me, I'll add that to the article. (It was 1993 by the way!)

Even though I'm at home right now, it'd be quite hard for me to find the box with the right CD in, too much music, too little time
All I can remember was that I was at uni, so sometime between 91 and 95 was when it happened.

There is a new remix of The Power Of Love. It's got this nice modern trance/dance opening and then goes all soft as the singing starts. I think it's not a particularly good example of the remixers art as the whole vibe of the song changes between the opening and the singing.
Oh well more money for Mr Johnson and the others then.

I thought I heard something like that on a trailer on the radio a few days ago, but I wasn't sure if it had just been thrown together specially for the trailer or if it was a proper release. Still, the song hasn't been out for nearly 6 months now so it'll be nice to hear it again...

Well it's going to be coming out again. A club anthem no less
Shame that it was quuite a nice comlete song to start with and they didn't need to do all the knob twiddling on it. As you can guess I don't particulary like the remix

I think that we'll be getting a Holly Johnson record (CD ) which reatures that track and new stuff. I've heard that its going to be both a new Frankie album and a solo project by Johnson. I'm more inclined for the latter to be true myself.

Well, Holly released a solo album late last year which included a new version of "The Power Of Love" and new material, but the new version was pretty similar to the original... perhaps it's a remix of that?

Hmmm, just heard the trailer again and it does sound like a remix of the FGTH version, not the solo version.

The remix is definately based on the original 80's version - with snippets from the 12" Holier Than Tho mix on the original...
Holly's own mix doesnt suffer from the "Mickey Mouse" vocals of the original 7" - which they sped up in order to fit on the single! However his Millenium Mix is probably the best version to date!
See: www.pleasuredome.co.uk for more info on Soulstream & other single releases from Holly (Or my own site: www.acrosstheuniverse.co.uk / www.acrosstheuniverse.org.uk)

So it was the Frankie version, and now Two Tribes has been remixed as well... again... Actually the mix of Two Tribes isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's better than the remix of The Power Of Love, in that it actually uses most of the original song structure instead of simply repeating the chorus over and over again.

Great Stuff E.V !!!
You must have a thing for the preposterous but perfect pop package as I...
BTW I 've heard that new remix, not a very good example of a modern remix, neither here nor there as far as I could tell, plus the video clip is a letdown after the classic original...

There's a whole new "best of" album out this week, with an extra CD of new remixes, all of them useless. I'm going to have to add another section onto the article now...

I think the label bosses could get into the dairy game...
Well, they're getting rather good at milking their ZZT cashcow...
BTW Does ANYBODY know what the object of the Frankie game was ???

Yes... you had to wander about some houses, finding the secret rooms with the sub-games in them, win all the sub games and then find the pleasure dome.
Er, or something.
Actually, no, I've no idea what the object was.
