You say that 'seeing pink elephants' is a phrase for experiencing delirium tremens. Are you sure? I thought it represented the hallucinations when someone is drunk. In fact, I thought it came from cockney rhyming slang:
elephant's trunk = drunk
shortened to elephants, and then expanded to pink elephants.

Hello Gnomon
No, I never heard of it
It was something which was suggested in PR by pailaway: F5527412?thread=4723158&skip=20&show=20 post 34
I wonder if you could explain to me how the picture applied to the EGE (Dame Barbara) is also showing on the unedited version? I'll leave it until you've looked at it, (the PR thread) but then I'll delete the unedited version as I don't want anyone posting there

Someone edited the unedited version and put in the GuideML for the picture. If it wasn't you, then I'll bet that the Eds did this, intending to put it on the Edited version, then realised their mistake. It's happened before.

OK, I'm happy with the pink elephants reference.

Here's what I said in the Wagner entry:
"When composing, he surrounded himself with silks and perfumes, as the sensual delights encouraged his creativity. "
