A Conversation for Drystone Walls

Hard Work

Post 1

Phil

I've been on conservation weekend where we did some drystone walling. Very hard work. Much respect to Technoyokel to actually go out and do this.

I bet you did the weekend with BTCV, that's how I got into conservation work in the first place. It's not that hard when you get used to it- besides being self-employed means I can skive when I want!

I think it was with the scouts actually, but the BCTV were the ones doing the dry stone walling if I remember correctly.

Being self employed means that you don't get paid when you're skiving though. I'm sure I'd be skiving in that job if the weather was like it was here today (chucking it down all day).

At least you can be out in the sunshine, when it happens smiley - winkeye I'm stuck in an office all day in the big smoke smiley - sadface

Yeah I guess it depends on your definition of hard work! I'd hate being in an office all day - I've only ever done that as a volunteer for a BTCV and that was bad enough. Well there's always the weekendsmiley - smiley

I suppose so. Sometimes it's ok being in an office, usually when it's raining smiley - winkeye. I'd prefer it if I had a nice view, but I don't (at least I have a seat near a window so I can get natural light at the desk).

Getting away at weekends something I try and do as often as possible smiley - bigeyes

Sounds like a good compromise- if I'm away at weekends it tends to be a walling competition! Oh well somebody has to do itsmiley - winkeye
