Fascinating stuff, and I'm not even a Xena fan! I haven't actually watched the show, but I have a lesbian soccer buddy who is obsessed with Xena. I thought it must be just because Xena was a VERY strong female character in a sexy outfit - but having followed those links, now it all makes sense!

Xena is a gay icon - not just a lesbian icon. There is a difference.
IRL, happily married Lucy Lawless is pregnant with her second child. In New Zealand (she's a New Zealander) she fronts TV commercials promoting breast cancer awareness.
