As a once proud seafaring nation (don't you just love that phrase) we still seem to do well at a variety of water sports.
We have world class sailors, sailing things from the size of small dingys (Ben Ainslie, Laser Dingy) to one of the largest and supposedly fastest racing sailboats yet seen - the Team Philips catmeran, captained by Pete Goss.
Then there are those who go out on the lakes and rivers, Steve Redgrave multi olymic gold medalist and world champion rower, Paul Ratcliffe, K1 slalom canoeist who looks to be heading for a medal in Sydney.
And fishing for a number of years the English were the world champions in coarse fishing
