Funnily enough, it doesn't mention this launching technique that I have occasionally seen in the streets of Liverpool...
I'm assuming that it is frowned upon, what with the technique tending to involve the fireworks heading off horizontally, but I'm surprised that the code doesn't condemn this explicitly?

i would think the catch-all 'being stupid in a public place' a/k/a 'contributing to a nuisance' might apply.
unfortunately, they are after-the-fact.

We don't tell people not to eat fireworks either. Fortunately, we can't be held accountable for the stupidity of some other people

The distinction between eating fireworks and firing them out of a tube at someone else, is that while even the stupidest firework fool can generally appreciate the danger to their own health, other peoples safety tends to be a more abstract concept...
Mind you, if you did include it in the code, it would inevitably give the idea to some that hadn't thought of it.

But seriously, with a few guidelines it's really just a matter of common sense. Guaranteed though, there are people out there who tried to do something really stupid with a firework (like fire it from their arse Jackass style), got hurt and tried to sue the manufacturers because 'it didn't say you couldn't do that in the instructions'

okay.....how about a statute disallowing 'contributing to the idiocy of a populace' ?
(on second thought, i'd probably be in jail by now.)
