You can climb better than a croc, so steep banks would seem to be a good place to not find any.....also avoid any place frequented by that mad Steve Irwin bloke smiley - smiley.

P.S. It's a while ago, but I don't remeber there being crocs in Manly aquarium...

There are no crocs in Manly aquarium (or as far as I know anywhere in Manly smiley - smiley ) The guy that showed me round was very into the Reef and suchlike, and since that was where I was heading next, he offered the slightly odd advice referred to in the article.

One simple method of avoiding being eaten by a crocodile, or, for that matter, an alligator, is to live in Britain!

Although you could get a nasty Look from a Newt, if they weren't nearly extinct.

Good point about evolution, when you've got it right, why change?

I say carry a big steak with you when walkin' through croc country. If one comes after you, bash it over the head repetadly with the steak. It should scare him off, at least that's what the guy without a hand told me.

P.S. how can I get a real name this researcher 893459243857 is sngering me.

So that's where Teddy Roosevelt got it, the correct quote would, therefore, be: "To avoid crocodiles, walk softly and carry a big steak." smiley - smiley

Are we hitting the crocodile with a "stake"? or feeding it a "steak"? I can only imagine that hitting a crocodile with a large section of cow flesh would not deter it at all smiley - smiley

The man with no hand told me to hit them with the steak (cow flesh). I don't know if I would consider a man with a missing hand as a good survival giude however. Take his advice with a grain of salt. smiley - smiley
