A Conversation for How To Knit A Pair Of Socks
Knitting the heel flap

Seeing as this conversation has been resurrected:
On the knit rows of the heel flap, I knit 1, slip 1 across, and on the pearl rows knit 1, pearl to the last stitch, and knit the last stitch. This makes a little "knot" for picking up the stitches for the gusset. It also makes the heel flap a little thicker.
I haven't knitted socks for a long time, but used to wear only hand-knits (I used to live in a very cold climate!), made with synthetic yarn, because I'm allergic to pure wool of any sort.

Absolutely! I don't know how many times I couldn't find an answer to something, and looked in h2g2 - and found what I was looking for!
I don't claim to be an expert knitter - or expert at anything, for that matter, but if I can help someone I certainly will. It seems to be the way I spend my life.
