A Conversation for How To Knit A Pair Of Socks
Any tips for getting the right length if you have only 50g?

I was wondering if anyone has any hints for my first time knitting with 50gx2 balls of posh (ie pricey) yarn? I was planning to knit top down, but I'm not sure how long I should make the socks to not run out of wool? I figured the best thing was to learn a top-up technique, then I'd just knit the length until I ran out. But I'm sure there must be a better way?

I can get an Ankle length sock out of 50g with some to spare. A lot depends on how big (footwise) the sock is going to be. At the moment I'm knitting a pair for a man (big feet) and 50g is just about going to do one ankle length sock
