what a character ! if only all his strength of character and courage of conviction had been without the need for his revenge and only for the sake of pure justice!

But can you separate the different aspects of his character so easily? Maybe his strength and drive come from his need for 'revenge' - I say 'revenge' in commas because recently the book's suggested the death of his family merely gave Castle an excuse to kill and keep killing, that being the only thing that gives his life meaning.
