Fire Ants

clzoomer- a bit woobly

I remember hearing at the time that fire ants were attacking the insulation of wires at the site. Is that true or was it just another imaginary *fault* found in the location by the nay-sayers?

Also, could the site be resurrected or is it being shot and bombed as it were? smiley - erm

Baryonic Being - save GuideML out of a word-processor: A7720562

I haven't heard anything about the fire ants and I didn't find anything about them in my research. The site is being re-used for military training now, so it will probably not be resurrected for a continuation of the SSC project, at least not in the near future.

It's strange: most of my research sources sounded so pessimistic about the future of the SSC, saying such things as "since the SSC will never be built..." or "the never-to-be SSC" and so on. I don't see why the SSC couldn't be a project taken on in the future by another party, such as CERN.

I suppose the references are just to that particular site, (at least I hope so!) Politics and Science have always been strange bedfellows but I suppose eventually someone will realise the absolute necessity of the research. I guess they'll just have to have a combination of very deep pockets and englightened leadership. I won't hold my breath.....smiley - erm

smiley - cheers
