An Aerial View of Lakeland

While I am not a pilot myself, I have had occasion to view the City of Lakeland from a small plane on several occasions. I am always impressed with just how much of the area is covered by water. Its no wonder that so few of the streets travel in a straight line for more than a mile or so; there are lakes everywhere. As a matter of fact I often wonder that there is any room for a town.
From street level in a car one hardly notices this phenomenon. You follow along the path of the street hardly noticing that the street curves left to miss this lake and then right to miss that one. It all seems rather ordinary, but from the air it is truly a wonder.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
