I see that the lovely town of Longview has been officially entered and commented on, so I suppose all I can do is comment on it further. I moved to Longview in 2000, on a dare really, and have noticed a few things that haven't been mentioned.
First, there is a desparate air to this town. It's a tangible quality, and it feels alot like a wet lump of toilet paper. It's as if this town is aching to be like it's sister Tyler, but mom and dad just wouldn't spend the money on the braces, so this town has obvious underlying psychological issues. It can be seen in the eyes of the children, and the gaping, almost slack-jawed mouths of the adults. It's not everyone that's affected by this. Those that are able to get out of town regularly are immune to the effect, as are those that have just recently moved here.
If you're not into eating, drinking, and highschool football, there's really no point in being here. Most of the teen population have moved on to more experimental drugs or Church, whichever can mess their minds up quicker.
On a positive note, Christmas time is fairly beautiful, and the lights adorning the city hall downtown are almost enough to distract you from the achitechtural monstrosity that it's become.
For those think on visiting here, all I can give you is my own personal travel ad: "Longview. Why?"
For those thinking of moving here, I'm only assuming you really have nothing better to do. So welcome, neighbor. You'll fit right in.
