A Conversation for Teenage Depression

I have two teenagers who are victims of Bi-Polar Disorder. They are both doing well at the present time. Their Father committed suicide 4 monthss ago. Teenage depression is a common occurence. However, by no means should it be trivialized. When hormones are rageing a child gets the Blues. But when the child starts talking about lack of self worth, haveing no friends,a foreboding of a bleak future then please listen to him or her because these signs are a desperate cry for help. NO, your child doesn't have to have a "labelled disorder" to exhibit hese symptoms. Listen to those you love.

Kasese
I am very sorry to hear what you and your family have been through.
You are absolutely right to say that teenage depression is important, thats when I started self-harming. I am a lot better now, as they say! My mum didn't and couldn't know how to deal with it and just said, I'll take you to the doctor if you keep talking like that.
So its great to see that you take your kids seriously and respect their moods as something more than just hormones. Although i appreciate it cannot be at all easy to see your kids feeling like that, it must be very scary indeed, you are there for them though.
Good luck for the future
