I was under the impression that Pilsner was named for the Pilsenkraut (Henbane) used as the plant constituent of the brew. The ancients very commonly infused their drinks with various and sundry plants and fungi....or so Jonathan Ott confidently asserts in his _Pharmacotheon_.
