It's worth noting that the remains of the Royal Chapel, below the room where Henry VIII married two of his wives has recently been discovered (Jan '06) during work on the drains at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This was part of the Palace of Placentia.
Henry was born there and also married Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves there. His second wife, Ann Boleyn gave birth to Elizabeth i there.
The chapel was built by Henry VII on the site of an earlier royal manor between 1500-1504.

I didn't know about this. So, is this the remains of Greenwich Palace that we're talking about here? How exciting! I knew that Elizabeth I was born at Greenwich, but I thought that Henry VII was born at Eltham (or maybe he was just bought up there?).
Interesting stuff.

Sorry, I meant Henry VIII as well (just didn't manage to hit enough keys) - I had thought he was born at Eltham. Not sure about Henry VII, I'd better look him up in my Tudor book.
