A Conversation for Spitting

More Spit Names

In New Zealand, when someone sniffs snot down the back of their throat then forces it up to the mouth at the same time as forming it into a spittable blob, then spits it - it is called a HOIK (noun or verb)"I hoiked at him" "don't stand in that hoik", obviously derived from the sound this proceedure makes.

Australians call the noun a GOLLY, maybe because it looks like what goly sound like. The act of spitting is simply called spitting.
