and M*A*S*H, the final episode, is still the most watched tv show ever...
Great job, Irving, you have captured all the elements of the theme, book, movie, tv show, and [of course] the war.

ps. researchers might also like to visit the Approved Guide Article on Toledo, Ohio, USA; Klinger's home town and home of the Mud Hens [really]

Oh my! I wish I'd remembered to put that link into the article! Thanks for the interest, blu! You a big M*A*S*H fan? The door on my dorm room has a sign that reads "The Swamp".

Loved the book, loved the movie.
M*A*S*H was the last tv sit-com I watched regularly. after it everything else is just ka-ka Of course, everything on tv now is pretty much ka-ka ['cept for CNN and classic movies]
And Alan Alda is my hero.
And I live within 60 minutes of Toledo, but have never seen the Mud Hens play or gotten ribs from where ever that was that Klinger got 'em.

PS if you have other corrections/additions to make to the article maybe Ginger could *blush* add the link, too. I can link my original Toledo article to this one, but I cant add a link from MY Approved entry, either. I dunno how hard it is to do, have never done it. I hate to bother TPTWVH and slow up the editing of new stuff in any way.
well done!

In the acronym TPTWVH, what does the WVH stand for?
In fact, there are some corrections I'd like to make here. I stuck a forum thread "Author's Note" onto this page to make some corrections. I'll go mention the Toledo link in that forum as well, just in case someone actually gets around to editing this...

TPTWVH is a variation of TPTB
Waaaaay back when it was mostly fields here, and it was mostly Mark and Jim in the office, folks seemed to refer to them [reverently] as The Powers That Be. One of 'em said in some forum buried back in the mists of time that they didnt care for TPTB, so I called 'em The Powers That Work Very Hard, Cause They Dont Like To Be Called The Powers That Be [TPTWVHCTDLTBCTPTB] but as you can see, that was hard to type, so I abbreviated it to TPTWVH. Some folks still refer to them that way, but actually I must say that I invented it. *blush*
And there are some folks who get worked up about it and dont like to call the paid help TPTWVH, cause they feel [and rightly so] that there are a whole buncha volunteers working on the site who work just as hard as the paid help. But I still like The Powers That Work Very Hard, Cause They Dont Like To Be Called The Powers That Be [TPTWVHCTDLTBCTPTB]...TPTWVH for short.
And I wish that some people could take their sense of humor in for a tune-up from time to time...

PS would like to know how the 'editing of approved articles' goes. like I said, I never tried it.

Neither have I, though I gather it can be done. I just saw the front page and... this forum is in the most active!?!?!?
Nice to know what TPTWVHCTDLTBCTPTB stands for. And it's a real plus to get it straight from the coiner of the phrase!

Apparently Anna did come through and fix up the minor errors that I found (she certainly does Work Very Hard), but no link. I don't think that's really her job, as most of what she changed just involved rewording existing text, and not adding new sentences just for a link to Toledo. But if I do find out that there's a chance of getting this re-submitted WITH the link, I'll be sure to put it in!

I think Ginger is your man...er, person...er, being to make those kinda changes. At least thats where I would start, since she edited the page.
And I dont really care about the Toledo link, just sorta thought it would be fun...especially since the only thread that started in that article was about M*A*S*H

The answer is that I can't add the link either but I can resubmit the changed article if you wish. It does, however slow up the subbing of new articles. The update of existing stuff really needs to be sorted out by TPTBAAL as it doesn't really have a process we can follow!
If you write up the change and email it to me at [email protected] and I will ensure it is forwarded to those in the know!

oh, silly, I knew you were a girlie!
just didn't want you to think I didn't know, when I used that there figger of speech '...'s your man'
I agree that editing approved articles needs a clearer process, I have asked a couple of other times but it looked like it would be sorta complicated for something that should really just take a little time. And I, too would not want to slow up the approval of new articles.
TPTBAAL????

TPTB
Bald Bloke Posted Feb 29, 2000
The reason "they" didn't apreciate TPTB was that it has two possible meanings.
The Powers That Be
or
The People To Blame
Depending on your mood when posting

*hehehehehe*
how true.
but maybe that's a little better than just calling them 'them'...
An' anyway, it wern't 'them' wot didn't like TPTWVH, it were other folks. I think that TPTwhatever gotta pretty well tuned-up sense of humor, on the whole.
Now about this TPTBAAL????????

At the beginning when they had the whole submitting articles to be rejected thing they used to say they would look at them when they got back from lunch but as they had no editors they never got looked at. Therefore we assumed they were always at lunch so the became The Powers That Be Always At Lunch.
