Good entry. I haven't sen the movie in a long time, but I did buy the DVD on sale recently. Still in the shrink wrap, maybe now I'm ready to watch it again.

Another example comes to mind, "Wait Until Dark", 1967, with Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin. I saw it in the theater and don't remember another example of an audience reacting so strongly to a single scene. A little directorial trickery, maybe, but it sure scared the bejabbers out of everybody. smiley - yikes

Not sure I'm following ... are you talking about the DeNiro character in "Taxi Driver"? If so, I need to watch it again, its been too long.
