"I'M NOT A SLAVE/
TO A GOD THAT DOESNT EXIST!!"

Good luck, my friend... As a 'fundie', I just have to say, chance would be a fine thing!
Are you by any chance, a worshipper of satin? (Never mind...)

What does Satin have to do with religious belief. I mean, I know it's really soft and comfortable and all, but if you're going to worship any material, I'd worship leather.
Also, !!2T4RFO6K3R!! is you're name a NIN reference by any chance? If so, why are you quoting Manson when you could quote "Head Like a hole," "Terrible Lie," "Heresy," "Suck" or "Mr Self Destruct"
PS. Have you heard Plastic Jesus, great song. I'm wasn't a big Manson fan until I accidentally downloaded it while trying to get a copy of all the System of a Down B-sides.
Back on the subject of religion. As I stated before, I have no problem with religion or personal faith at all. I do have a problem with fundamentalism tho, as it supports mass control and indoctrination, which I see as evidence of fascist leanings. This applies to all religions, even Atheism!

Hiya Della
I'm back again too. I hope you, cyclops and the rest of the gang here are well.
Are you a 'fundie'?
What does that mean to you?
I wouldn't have thought you would describe yourself so.

Well, I was going to quote the chorus of Heresy, but then I thought that quoting marilyn would be more offensive to Christians.

On Friday, we were playing on my brother's computer and came acrossa site dedicating to punching celebrities. (I have forgotten the URL, sorry, as it's hilarious.) After nominating Winnie Peters (execrable NZ politician, equivalent to Jean Marie Le Pen), we looked at the ****wits file, where they post nominations from dimwits - and one person had nominated Marilyn Manson on the grounds that s/he (Manson) was a worshipper of "satin". I just thought it was funny, that's all.

No, Becky, I am not really a fundie, but I was once. The guy achieved what I think he wanted, which was to annoy me (he didn't target me, he targeted Christians, but the principle is the same.) So I laid claim to being a fundie, though I am really an ex-one.

Why do I want to offend Christians? To show my disrespect for their beliefs.

Hi everyone, how ya doing?
Hey, Starf****r! or whatever, why are you purposefully disrespecting other peoples beleifs. I'm not trying to be soft or anything but ridiculing someones beliefs to their face is a bit racist really. I am against fundamentalism (which was why I was quite worried when Della claimed to be one there) and in fact against all organisation of religion entirely but that doesn't stop me from feeling the need to be civil to people who disagree with me. If I tried to force my atheism on others then I'd be as bad as the fascists who tried to force Christianity on me. Everyone is entitled to their own personal beleifs. This is why I hate organsied religion as it removes this right.
PS. Heresy rocks, doesn't it? Have you heard "Shallow be thy game" by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers?

racist? Christianity isn't a race-related religion - perhaps you're looking for a word like 'bigoted', hmm?

Cyclops is right, the guy is bigoted! I appreciate his (qualified) support. I was being a bit 'difficult' claiming to be a 'fundie', but it's kind of like old women 'owning' the word crone (as many do) or gays 'owning' the word queer. One claims a word of abuse used against one, as a sort of perverse mark of pride.

I'm born and bred Jewish. I went to Hebrew School until my Bar Mitzvah, i can read Hebrew (phonetically, I have no ide waht most of it means). And I am in a in ternal struggle between my birth-faith and Agnosticism.
I agree that there are definitely flaws in religion. They seem rather silly. So far, the only reasons I've gotten for religion are that it brings people together (a good board game can do that though), and it gives you time to think.
I don't want to get rid of religion, I just don't think It's something everyone needs. It's just like race or sexual preference. As a matter of fact, its very like sexual preference because its usually something that you can't see about a person. It's just one way of thinking, and without different ways of thinking, there'd be very little to do because we can only discover so much using the same theories (especially if they're wrong) but having many opinions is what makes the Human race so great and keeps us from grinding to a stand-still.

Hi, Thinksoft! I had a thoughtful reply, but the server packed a sad and it got lost
I find what you say very interesting. As my parents were atheists when I was a child, I didn't have a birth faith. (Later, I became a Christian, and so did they - amazing coincidences, no connection. They're dead now.) But I can understand how one can have strong loyalty to one's birth faith...
I think you could benefit from investigating religions, and silly as it sounds - ask God what God thinks!

I can appreciate having different ways of thinking. But you have to admit, some ways of thinking are just stupid.

There are different views on Genesis, one being the literal interpretation that God created the universe in six 24-hour days. The other is that the creation in Genesis was more poetic and metaphorical and that the universe was created by God, but not in six 24-hour days. Calling it a debate of Creationism Vs Evolution is sort of a misnomer as it it actually a debate of I.D. (Intelligent Design a.k.a. Creationism)Vs The Big Bang theory. Many Christians I know believe in what they term "microevolution" in which there IS evolution but not Humans having a common ancestor with apes (I think I got that right, but I need to check up on that for specifics).

Hello, Ghost77. I am a Christian, and do not believe in creationism as such - there is far too much evidence for evolution. That being said, I do believe that God created - using evolution to get to the point where we are now...
