During a good 90% of the year in San Francisco the weather stays cold or some variation thereof. It is rare that there is a hot week, and just slightly less rare that there is a hot day. Do not pack your middle-aged people walking shorts or tank tops or extremely light clothing for your trip to San Francisco. Those post cards of the Golden Gate Bridge with the clear sunny sky are computer generated. Pack one pair of shorts, some long pants, regular shirts and jackets or sweaters. The bottom line is that it's cold in the city and it's especially cold near pier 39, the wharf or gherridelli square, so dress warm, be prepared and enjoy San Francisco for what it is. See the houses from the beginning of full house, see where the grateful dead lived, see the castro and the haight and the presidio, etc. Have fun, dress warm.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
