1) Get lots of postcards, write them, stamp them and POST THEM AT THE AIRPORT.
2)Anything really important, like insurance policies should be sent to your bank, also a copy of your will.
3)Refer your friends to your mother's address in England (or wherever you're moving from) If your mother is a wanderer like me, you'll have to find a stay-at-home friend
4) Get rid of the stuff that you can bear to get rid of - car boot sales, small ads in the local papetr, the Salvo or Oxfam You'll have to find a mother/kind friend to store the stuff that won't take the journey by sea to the Far East
5)But a bottle of whatever your stiff drink is at the duty free
6)Stash essential oils in crannies in your suitcases (like the toes of your shoes).
At one stage in my life I lived in 13 different houses in 4 different countries in 12 years but since I bought / started to buy a place in England , I've been able to leave most of ther memories packed in my own attic and cellar and can now travel with just the free air baggage allowance again.
Oh, and make sure your suitcases have wheels, especially the handbaggage. Some of the treks from plane to carousel that I've been on recently qualify as marathon training

Having just moved out of a long term student flat and off to the other end of the country I have found an easy way round the telling people I have moved thing. I didn't. I just get my ex-flatmate to forward post on to me. While this can take anything up to four weeks and normally results in an interesting sticky residue on the envelopes, I think you will find it to be a much more satisfactory service than usual. Also, if the bank were to know I had moved, they might want to know how I intend to pay my mortgage.

I'm still getting letters from my old student house, I moved out in September. I still haven't had the final gas bill though.
Key: Complain about this post
