A Conversation for Komodo Dragons

Komodo dragons

John the gardener says, "Free Tibet!"

Very interesting. The television program 'Lonely Planet' related the story of a child who had been grabbed, carried off, and presumably eaten by a dragon lurking under the stairs of the elevated hut in which he or she was staying. I remember reading ('Last Chance to See' ?) that the young are completely arboreal, because they would otherwise not survive into adulthood.

Another point of interest is that the saliva of the dragons contains many forms of bacteria and a powerfull anti-coagulant. The upshot of which is if you are bitten the wound will not heal well/quickly/on its own. Also unless it is cleaned very well it will fester and cause desease followed by death. Since the dragons are scavengers as well as hunters they are just as happy to follow a smell to a dead thing they don't have to fight with as live one that might put up more of a struggle.
