A Conversation for Swearing

Social Swearing

As a student I have discovered that swearing becomes more than just an obsceninty as one grows older.
As a child swearing was part and parcel of growing up in and around school but immersed in a new society, this form of communitive expression has become much more widly accepted and is even respected in the right context.

I have found that a lecture on a subject which proves to be way too dull for the average student to participate in, the odd casual swear word often alerts dozing members to the existence of a lecturer and his possibilities of becoming a stand up comedian. It is a prevaling view amongst students that people find that mild swearing can liven up even the most formal of occasions IF used in te right context.

I still find that there is a definate over use of certain words but some of these words have the position of "new verbs". Example "pass me the hammer" now becomes " pass me the f**king hammer"- a method of indicating that the hammer is more than a simple tool for banging ond hitting but as a much more elaborate piece of equipment although in a non sexual sense!!

Within my social circles at university, swearing as a common form of expression is still frowned on by most people unless one is S**t-faced but it is still used with the exception of the most corse obscenities which are usually reserved for doormen and hooligans.

It is for me to conclude that the right person, the right time, the right place and of corse the context can make swearing a faux-pas or an acceptable figure of speach.

I would be interested to know what 'corse' you are studying at university. Presumably not one that is bothered with correct spelling.
