Wasp's - one of those difficult to explain, creatures
Tigger Started conversation Dec 24, 1999
Whilst I realise this maybe controversial, from a human viewpoint, I would add Wasps on the list of creatures the world would be a lot better without - just after the Highland midge
Any other suggestions ?

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. Wasps are beautiful creatures. Fierce, efficient, without doubt. Ruthless. They are cleaners, scavengers, they keep you on your toes. Without wasps, sharks, mosquitoes, politicians and suchlike, we would all turn into lazy slobs sitting in a deck chair at the top of the foodchain.

Mine was a very human-centric point of view, but I'm not sure that bein kept on my toes by being stung in the back/hand/elsewhere, is quite what I require .....
Sorry & all that

How do you feel about the highland midge, by the way ?

(That is Scotland by the way ! - Where are HeadSnot based ?)

You need not apologise to me for having something against wasps - why I myself will not rest on my patio until all the lovely, efficient, ruthless beasts have been squashed, burnt, pulverised to pulp and cinder on any summer evening.
Furthermore, for the love of Mike, I have not the slitest idea what a highland midge is.
And HeadSnot Inc. has its headquarters in Am*dam, the netherlands.

The Highland midge, is a small relative to the mosquito in looks at least, it hangs around in swarms in W. Scotland (& moving south, apparently) durng the summer months, and is extemely violent in its attacks !

GROWL!
HISSS!
*leg-chop*

Nooooo!
If this is what to expect,
I don't think I like the highland midge.
I'm lucky, I live in a lowland. We have a lowland bitch.
known to lie around alleyways and barf all over passers-by.
not very dangerous, but best avoided.

We have those too, in the 'sunny' south of the UK, thought we tend not to use polite phraseology such as 'lowland bitch' to describe them !
BTW, in english slang, 'bitch' is usually female & most of the barfers are male, but random comments about parentage are very helpful for a full description.

but the lowland bitch IS female!
your barfing nuisances are MALE?
well, that solves my problems right there.
our problem (with us heterosexual males, that is) is that somewhere in an alleyway a gorgeous chick is beckoning you with a slender finger, only to barf all over you when she has drawn you in.
Now that ruins my night on the town.
