As in many towns the best way to find things to do in Richmond (short of knowing a local who shares your taste) is one of the free weekly tabloids. Style is a good general gude to the city, with features written on local subjects; Punchline is more targeted to students and young singles and is much more entertaining in its own right, though it sometimes relies on syndicated feature articles.

Both have decent listings of music, restaurants, and other events--get both because neither catches it all. Most restaurants have a stack of one or both by the front door, esp. in the Fan and Downtown.
