I have always found that the strips contained many ideas and themes that pertain to adults also. that is one of the reasons i love it so much... i grew up on calvin and hobbes... i remmember the last strip. but i find that waterson is able to blend adult and child into a seamless comic. he is able to make the strips funny for the kids while melding serious ideas into the strips. such as when he is fighting against the new strip formats or the syndicate, the adults pick up on it, and he presents it in such a way that the kids find it funny. oh what can i day... i miss it SO much!

yeah.. also, have you noticed the similarity in his dad and himself? take a look at a picture of waterson! its too funny!

I've never seen a picture of Watterson, but I'll look for one.

I think I read in the anniversary book that Watterson based the character of dad on his own dad.

My nephew is about the same age as me, we were both adults for the entire run of the strip and both big fans. He thinks the discontinuation of the strip borders on treason. "Doesn't he realize what that does to me?!?"

Calvin & Hobbes is my all-time favourite comic strip. No other strip has ever made me laugh out loud so often, so consistently. It is so intelligently imaginative, and so wickedly funny. America's two preeminent literary geniuses are John Steinbeck and Bill Watterson. No hyperbole intended.

i read the same book... i think it had his pic in that book also...

it makes me so nostalgic thinking about the strip again... the other day actually i was looking at my lazy sunday book!
