This really is a great entry! No wonder it made it into the eg. 
I am German myself and did practically grow up with Dinner For One. As a child I naturally didn't really understand the conversation except for the bits explained in the beginning. But the sketch works like that, too.
Now that I understand it, it's even more funny. Especially the end when James has to fullfill the final duty... 
It's weird, really, I have watched it so mayn times, but it's still funny.
