Maybe that is in deed Mazda's entire problem - comfort?
We had a European Mazda 323 hatchback for many years and even if it was an okay family car, it never gave much on comfort as it seemed built for small Japanese rather than average height europeans.
But hey, I had a Mazda RX-7 Matchbox car when I was a kid. And a cool car it was!

What to do with comfort, when you have more than 200 HP under your right foot. Who cares about luxury wheel-knobs????
