The asphodel of the island of Corsica is used for an emergency foodstuff. Myself, I'd be reluctant, since oxalic acid, irrespective of source, even if it produces no immediate trouble and despite a pleasant astringent taste in tiny amounts, predisposes to later kidney stones which can be agonizingly painful and require hospitalization and surgery.
Oxalic acid is also used as a cement accelerator since it speeds the hardening of portland cement.
"Shamrocks", oxalis flowers, got their name since in ancient times shamans used to mold talismans and amulets from a mixture of calcined lime, clay and pulverised oxalis, which would then set up like a stone.
