Dead groundhogs?

Though I may be mistaken, I heard that there are more than one groundhogs that are used in this same way. I'm prety sure that last Febuary one of the groundhogs up here in Canada was poked to death by the partyers (sp?) while trying to get him out of his hole. This may be a silly rumor, but it made me chuckle.

I don't know about Canada, but here in Pennsylvania there's a usurper called 'Octoria Orphie' who lives in a burrow in Lancaster County. However, most Pennsylvanians recognize the many incarnations of 'Phil' as the true master of the day!
